Privacy policy
Last updated 2026-10-22. This explains what personal information NI Pigeons holds, why, and your rights.
Who we are
nipigeons.co.uk is run by James Reid, who is the data controller. Contact: james.reid@nipigeons.co.uk.
What we hold
Race results
Loft names, clubs, ring numbers, placings, velocities and, where published, distances and flying times, taken from results that organisations publish or that are uploaded to us. We don't hold addresses, phone numbers or loft locations. Why: to publish results and statistics for the sport (legitimate interests). Results are already published by each organisation.
Accounts
Your name, email address, a one-way scrambled copy of your password, that you confirmed you're 16 or over, your choice about marketing emails, and the dates you joined and last signed in. If you set up a second sign-in step we hold what's needed for that. Why: to run your account and the things you take part in (contract).
Auctions and events
What you bid on or take part in, what you owe and whether you've paid. Why: to run them and collect payment (contract). Payments are made by bank transfer to the organiser; we never see or hold card or bank details.
Uploads
If you upload a result we keep your name and, if you give it, a contact email or phone number, so we can ask about the result. The uploaded file is kept privately for checking. Member numbers, pools and prize money on result sheets are not read or stored.
Forum
The forum is for members only. Your posts, the topics you start, the date and time of each, and your account name (shown with your posts) are kept so the forum works. If you report a post, we keep the report and who made it, so moderators can deal with it. Why: to run the forum and keep it safe (contract and legitimate interests). If you delete your account, the text of your posts is removed and topics you started are shown as by a former member.
Events and adverts
Events and adverts show the contact details the organiser or business asked us to publish. Nothing about visitors is tracked when you view or click on them.
Contact form
If you send us a message we keep your name, email address, telephone number (if you give it) and the message, so we can reply. Messages are deleted once they have been dealt with.
Emails
We email you about your account, if you win, and if you owe a payment. These are part of using the site. Marketing emails (only about events and sales being run) are sent only if you ask for them, and you can stop them at any time in your account or using the link in each email.
Who sees it
Only the site's admins. We use a hosting company and an email-sending service to run the site; they process data only on our instructions. We don't sell or share your information with anyone else.
How long we keep it
Account information is kept until you delete your account. Results are kept as a permanent record of the sport. If you owe money, or have been banned for not paying, we keep a minimal record (a scrambled copy of your email address and the reason) after your account is deleted, so the ban can't be avoided by signing up again.
Your rights
You can see and download everything we hold about you (Download my data), correct it, delete your account (your account), object to how we use it, and stop marketing. To ask about results that mention you, or anything else, contact james.reid@nipigeons.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
